UFO 2 & LUNA mini 3 review
I’ve been using these for the last couple of months and wanted to post my thoughts on all the products I was kindly gifted by the team at FOREO UK
2020, the year of COVID-19, lockdown aka tonnes of spare time for self love and self care. Part of my self care journey these last few months has involved exploring new skincare products and defining a skincare routine. I was lucky enough to be gifted a few products by Scandinavian brand FOREO and I’ve honestly never been so excited! Don’t get me wrong, every single time I’m gifted products I’m extremely grateful, it really is still so surreal each time a brand reaches out and wants to work with me. That being said, FOREO products have intrigued me for a while, I’ve seen them everywhere on Instagram over the last 12 months, growing increasingly popular amongst the beauty community.
Who are FOREO? A multi-award winning Scandinavian beauty-tech brand, from just 2 staff members in 2013, FOREO have grown rapidly and now have over 3,000 employees worldwide. Priding themselves on not fitting into just one specific category, mastering a variety of revolutionary skincare devices, but also transformational electronic toothbrushes. LUNA – their silicone sonic marvel has become the best selling facial-cleansing brush in the world! I’ve never owned any kind of facial tech device but only having heard positive reviews, I couldn’t wait for these to arrive and try them! From previous posts you guys know I’ve been battling with a severe facial allergic reaction to something but I’m pleased to say I’m finally through the worst and have been able to trial these beauties out! Read on to learn more about the devices and what I thought!
So FOREO kindly gifted me their new UFO 2 masking device, paired with their newly launched Cannabis Seed Oil masks, and their revolutionary FOREO LUNA mini 3! Don’t they look beautiful!? So aesthetically pleasing, you guys know I’m a big fan of packaging and FOREO really hit it out the park with the packaging of these products. The masks are beautiful, housed in small tear-to-open sachets, vividly coloured in a matte soft touch exterior, similar to how the devices feels.
I also didn’t know what to expect when I heard the devices were to be used paired with an app. These devices are a completely new concept for me, but see below for more info on each of the products as well as how I got on.
LUNA mini 3
First up, the device that initially sparked my interest in FOREO months ago, the LUNA cleansing device. The most extravagant my cleansing routine got until this point was progressing from single to double cleansing after makeup, and I’m ashamed to admit that prior to this year, I would simply use makeup wipes to remove my makeup/cleanse! Evidently lockdown has been good for some things!
The LUNA mini 3 is the third in a series of an ever evolving cleansing concept. It’s a handheld ‘dual sided’ cleansing device that uses long silicone touch points & T Sonic pulsations to thoroughly remove oil, dirt and sweat residue, cleansing your face in as little as 30 seconds! The LUNA mini 3 is suitable for all skin types and will give you up to 400 uses per charge. It features 12 speed/intensity settings directing up to 8000 T-sonic pulsations per minute. The LUNA mini 3 fits in the palm of your hand, perfect to live in your handbag or gym bag for those constantly on the go! Another important point to note is unlike other cleansing brushes, there’s no requirement for replacement brush heads.
The device is made from body-safe silicone, free of phthalates and BPA and is 100% waterproof (perfect for cleansing in the shower!). Syncs via bluetooth with the FOREO app on your smart device to select intensity settings.
How does this compare to it’s larger sister product, the LUNA 3? The LUNA 3 has 16 intensity settings, up to 650 uses per charge and has several device variations for you to choose based on your skin type (Normal, Combination and Sensitive skin). The most notable difference aside from size, is the LUNA 3’s four additional settings are actually for facial massage routines that can be utilised when paired with the FOREO app, and retails at a slightly higher price point of £169.
If you guys pick up anything during the sales, I honestly can’t recommend this device enough. Every single time after I use it my skin is soft, supple, hydrated and cleansed. My pores look blurred, as good as any Instagram smooth skin filter and it creates the most beautiful blank canvas to apply makeup on top of. I’ve also noticed an incredible difference in how quickly my skin absorbs my skincare when using this at the start of my routine. I use this AM & PM, twice daily and pair it with my Wishful Skin Clean Genie Cleansing Butter, dampening my skin before applying Clean Genie and using the Luna Mini 3.

UFO 2
The UFO 2 was a new concept to me and if I’m being completely honest, I had no idea what to expect and prepared myself for a potential gimmick. I’m now pleased to report that I was gladly wrong about my assumptions, and this is a must-have for those who love and appreciate the benefits of masking, especially if you limit your use of masks due to time constraints. Say hello to everything you love about sheet masks and more, all being delivered to you in just 90 seconds!
The UFO 2 is a spa quality sonic powered mask, using LED light therapy, sonic pulsations and on board heating/chilling to activate unique plush K-beauty inspired microfibre masks and deliver the ultimate facial treatment in the comfort of your own home. The devices promotes the increased build of collagen, balanced skin tone, firm eye contour, diminish dark circles, soften fine lines, ease breakouts and soothe sun burn.
Thermo-Therapy & Cryo-Therapy – both beauty terms I’d only heard referred to by celebrities until this point but both also included with this device! The device can warm up to 45°C (thermo-therapy) – the optimal temperature to open pores, allowing deeper penetrations of skincare products whilst also loosening sebem on the skin surface to boost radiance. The device can also cool down to 5°C (cryo-therapy) – delivering amazing anti-inflammatory properties, reduces puffiness, shrinks pores, lifts and firms skin all at a safe but effective temperature. I was kindly gifted the Cannabis Seed Oil and Make My Day Mask by the Foreo team, but went on to buy most of the other masks too! I’ve now tried most of the other masks, and have been able to experience the heating and cooling of the device and it really is magical. Such a unique, relaxing experience and feels so amazing on the skin it’s kind of unbelievable until you try it for yourself!
LED light therapy is something I’ve seen creeping into the beauty industry but have little to no knowledge of until researching this device. Taken directly from the FOREO UFO 2 device webpage, this device has 8 LED coloured light settings, each providing different benefits for your skin.
- RED LED – stimulate collagen and elastin production to lift and firm skin, diminishes fine lines and bolsters the skin’s healing process
- BLUE LED – minimises imperfections, destroys bacteria to prevent breakouts, stabilizes overactive oil production and mitigates acne/legions.
- GREEN LED – softens age spots, dark circles and discolouration, brightens dull complexions and evens skin tone
- WHITE LED – the longest wavelength meaning the light penetrates deeper into the skin than any other colour. White LED light reduces puffiness, tightens skin, and activates the skin’s natural renewal system.
- PURPLE LED – a combination of red and blue light, eliminates toxins, boost radiance, accelerate healing and reduce inflammation
- ORANGE LED – ease sun damage and revitalises skin for healthy glow
- YELLOW LED – soothes sunburn, softens rosacea, combats swelling and improves skin tone
- CYAN LED – an anti-inflammatory combination of blue and green light that calms stressed skin, also proven to promote healing, reduce the size of swollen capillaries and block pain
To explore the different LED colours and temperatures, connect your UFO 2 to your smartphone via bluetooth and use the FOREO app. The app allows you to also select the programme that corresponds with the relevant mask, and each programme has it’s own set of LED/temperature settings to optimise the results from the ingredients in each mask.

Cannabis Seed Oil Masks
They also gifted me their new Cannabis Seed Oil masks to try, as well as a couple of their Day & Night masks.
These luxe hydrocell masks aim to calm & soothe red irritated skin. They’re infused with over 200mg of cannabis seed oil, nourishing chamomile, and magnesium, making them noncomedogenic and ultra hydrating, as well as also regulating oil production. In terms of environmental impact, they’re cruelty free, 100% plant based, biodegradable and packed full of healthy nutrients.
Cannabis Sativa seed oil sourced in Germany, is naturally rich in anti-inflammatory properties, packed full of antioxidants that help combat environmental damage our complexion faces daily. Chamomile (Chamomilla Recutita Flower Extract) also known for its soothing anti-inflammatory purposes, helps even skin tone and boost hydration. Magnesium (Magnesium Ascorbyl Phosphate), another anti-oxidant that’s derived from Vitamin-C, also helping to even skin tone and build protection against pollutants, to give a clear complexion.
They’re also formulated without sulfates SLS, SLES, parabens, formaldehyde, formaldehyde-releasing agents, phthalates, mineral oil, retinyl palmitate, oxybenzone, coal tar, hydroquinone, triclosan and triclocarban and contain less than 1% synthetic fragrances as per the FOREO website listing.

Skincare Routine
I filmed this video and posted it as an IGTV on my Instagram to showcase a brief introduction to both FOREO devices and how I got on using them and the app. I’m happy to say since filming this, the FOREO app has finally been updated in a major way, as the app was the only issue I was having with both devices!!
Sometimes it was impossible to connect via bluetooth, access device settings easily and each time you wanted to use one of the masks, you had to use a camera function integrated within the app to scan the barcode on the mask packaging to gain access to the programme. Thankfully, the new app is MUCH better, you don’t have to scan any barcodes to access the individual mask programmes, and you can also access the device settings, allowing you to try the various colour changing LED light options and temperature options.
But anyway, I’ve found the combination of Wishful Clean Genie and the LUNA Mini 3 are the perfect cleansing pair to gently remove any dirt and grime from my skin. This followed by my Glow Recipe Watermelon Glow PHA + BHA Pore-tight Toner creates the perfect base ready for use with the UFO 2 and an accompanying FOREO mask. The total time needed to apply the mask is 90 seconds, but a top tip for you guys. Don’t immediately throw the mask packet away, there is plenty of mask essence in each pack to allow you two repetitions of the cycle. I always remove the mask sheet from the packet and affix it to the device and complete one treatment as is, before squeezing out the remaining essence and repeating the treatment again. You can then proceed with the rest of your skincare once you’ve pressed the excess essence into your skin. I usually opt for a serum (or double serum), before applying a moisturiser and facial oil. Prepare for your skin to look and feel revitalised, refreshed and radiant!
Since trying the Cannabis Seed Oil, Make my Day and Call it a Night masks, I’ve gone on to also purchase the H2Overdose, Coconut Oil, Bulgarian Rose and Manuka Honey masks and have loved all of them! My skin has been super hydrated and never felt more supple and enriched. I love the different mask variations, and in turn the different UFO pre set programmes, giving me variation and allowing me to explore the huge range of thermal/LED settings! Also, just an important side note, given the recent issues I’ve had with skin since the allergic reaction and constant flare ups, none of these masks have caused any stinging or burning whilst using, or after thankfully. The masks aren’t exactly cheap either, the Day & Night packs are £9.99 for 7 masks, with the other masks are £18.99 for 6 masks.

For some people, the price point is going to be a big turn off, as the UFO 2 especially seems very expensive for such a small device. That being said, during Black Friday FOREO as well as their retailers had various offers across all of the devices making them much more affordable. If you’re interested in getting one of these, I would recommend giving it a little bit of time and keeping an eye out during any up and coming sale periods as they go get reduced occasionally!
Summary
I have to say, I was EXTREMELY impressed with both devices and have since gone on to purchase an array of other masks during Black Friday to use with my UFO 2. I’ve also been using my LUNA mini 3 routinely now. If you guys pick up anything to up your skincare game, check out FOREO. I honestly can’t recommend both devices enough, every single time after using the LUNA mini 3 my skin is soft, supple, hydrated and cleansed. Combine this with using the Wishful Skin Yo Glow Enzyme Scrub twice a week after cleansing and I’ve seen such a transformation in the texture of my skin. My pores look filtered and it creates the most beautiful blank canvas to apply makeup on top of. Combine this with the UFO 2 mask and you’ll be in skincare bliss, I know I have been!
With my recent skincare woes I was sceptical but clearly had no reason to be. The Cannabis Seed Oil masks soothed, hydrated and most importantly, caused NO irritation. I honestly can’t recommend @foreo @foreo_uk enough.
